MAZ-547A. These huge trucks were built by MAZ as mobile missile launch platforms. The 547A was designed to support the RSD-10 Pioneer (known in the west as the SS-20) intermediate range ballistic missile. Nearly 500 of them were produced to carry the stockpile of some 654 missiles. Each of them could be armed with either a single 1Mt warhead or three 150kt MIRVs and deliver them at ranges up to 7,500km.
In accordance with the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty of 1987 all but a few were destroyed by the time the USSR collapsed.
