Railway bridge leading away from the entrance to Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant. This bridge crosses one of the canals leading to the cooling reservoir. The water below the bridge is teeming with large catfish and many of the 2000 or so workers at the plant like to feed them. It’s this surplus of food and the warm water of the reservoir coming from the plant that helps them grow so large, rather than the radioactive mutation that people like to joke about!
The main entrance to the plant is behind and to the left and the partially built structures of Reactors 5 and 6 are in the distance to the right of shot. From here the road travels round the back and along the length of the station to reach the stricken Reactor No. 4.
